Listening to the Spirit

Listening to the Spirit

June 2016 101

The other day I heard someone say “something told me to do that, but I didn’t.” I often hear these words and have been guilty of using them at times that I know I should’ve listened.
Learning to listen to the spirit has taken practice. When I say practice, I mean it’s something that I’m repeatedly doing, which is I’m trying to make it a habit to listen. At times I still slip up and don’t listen to what I’ve heard, but every time this has happened I end up regretting it.

My guide to listening in the spirit

  •  When we tend to hear something in our spirit we must first discern who is talking. The more you are in your word of God and in communication with the Lord this will becomes easier. You will be able to discern if it’s the spirit of the Lord or from satan. One thing I can help you to realize is satan will not have you do something that will bring you closer to God.
  •  When you hear something ask yourself, is this what Jesus would do? Will God get the glory from this? These questions are my foundation to anything I hear.
  •  Also when I hear something that has to do with forgiveness, love, compassion, this is an automatic because I know these are examples of my Jesus, so then I can proceed because I have comfort in knowing whose talking.
  •  Most important is the more you seek to hear the easier you will be able to discern, so study your word, and communicate with the Lord in prayer.
  •  You also should have someone you can confide in spiritually, someone you trust to ask or share your concerns with.
You must always remember that you are not in this battle alone we are helpers one to another.

God Promises

God Promises

As I looked up in the sky yesterday, after it had been raining for a few hours off and on, I couldn’t help but see a beautiful rainbow. Seeing this rainbow reminds me of Gods promises.

rainbow

I was asked the other day what is one of my favorite promises out of all the promises we read in the word of God? I never thought about it until I was asked, naturally I said “I love all of them,” but after some thought and having to narrow it down.  I choose the promise of eternal life, knowing that I am an heir to the kingdom of God brings me much peace; the kind of peace that the average person doesn’t understand, and won’t until they have come to know Him.

Seeing this rainbow signifies so much to me, it shows me that He is alive, and He is yet on His throne. It shows He is never changing, but the same yesterday, today, and forever. It shows that no matter how much it rains in my life He will never leave nor forsake me.

We can hold on to His promises, because even after all these thousands of years he still shows us a rainbow in the sky.

So seeing this rainbow I can rest assure that if I do my part, God will definitely do His!

God is real!

Genesis 9:13-17

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and ever living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

Staying in the race

Staying in the race

Have you ever tripped while trying to run? If so, you’re familiar with probably laying there for a while because you’ve either twisted an ankle, or scraped up a knee?
Well this is quite like life, you’re running this race, you’re doing good on this spiritual high, it feels like you are so close to the Lord, then ‘bam’ something trips you up. When this happens, we can be so hard on ourselves; we will lay there, with scrapes and bruises stunned at what just happened. We can even become mad at ourselves, asking ourselves questions; like why did I do that? Instead of jumping right up and walking off with the pain and our heads held high, we’ll lay there feeling defeated and ashamed.
I want to encourage you today to not waddle in your trip up, but get up and dust yourself off.
Yes it may have left you a little limp, but you’ll regain your strength. You must remember that you have come too far to give up now. Finish this race that is before you, holding your head up high knowing you’re on the right journey, and don’t isolate yourself because this will give the enemy room to come in.
God has a purpose for your life and even through our trips and bruises if you stay on the path you’ll get there. It was not promised to us that we will not have to suffer some things, but the promise is the one who endures to the end shall be saved.

Is church important?

Push

I run into so many people who think they can stay at home and be saved. People find so many reasons to not go to church that it’s heartbreaking. Reasons like, they don’t like what’s preached, who’s preaching, and they don’t like the songs the choir or praise team sing. Church time is too early, church holds to late, and they need to rest. The house or car needs to be cleaned before the beginning of the week; they need to get ready for work on Monday, and the biggest one of all is that, too many people have gotten hurt by church people and that’s not going to happen to me.

So is church important? One may doubt and think that not going to church they can walk this journey by themselves, but I must say that if not careful one will lean to their own understanding.

Well through all these excuses if we would just stop and consider the whole purpose of why we attend church. Like the main reason, going for our first love, setting time aside for Him, and while in the process we should be building one another up. There are many reasons we can come up with why not to go to church or to leave the church. Why can’t we find reasons to go or stay?

Yes! Church is important to your walk with Christ.

We should go to be amongst those that believe as we do, also who think the same way we do. We should all be trying to make it our final destination, ‘heaven.’ We should desire to want to hear the word explained and proclaimed. We should want to gather and pray for the lost and sick, worship, and lift our Heavenly Father up, because He deserves all we have to give.  For He doesn’t walk away from us but shows us Grace and Mercy, why can’t we do this amongst the body of Christ. Instead of walking away stand and be the light. You see, a lot of us expect God to show us grace and mercy, but find reasons to not go to church or reasons to leave the church, rather than show grace and mercy amongst our fellow brothers and sisters or even to ones who have hurt you. Not going or leaving won’t fix the problem; it will just make a problem. We must remember it’s not about ‘us’ but about ‘Him.’

God Bless!
